Alvin College Celebrates West Campus Success

The Alvin College West campus has successfully met important milestones in its first year and a half of operation.

Since the facility began offering courses in 2025, the facility located in Manvel has recovered its cost to operate, said Dr. Stacy Ebert, Alvin College provost and vice president of Strategic Initiatives. Dr. Ebert and Beth Nelson, vice president of Administrative Services, shared the findings with the Board of Regents on September 23.

“The investment has been made and it has been repaid ,” Ebert said to the board. “When a college opens a new institutional location the standard expectation is that it takes several years to reach this point. We got there in 18 months.”

The West campus has served 659 students in the time it has opened and hosted more than 45 community events. The college earned $929,260 in revenue from the location against $932,745 in expenses.

The college signed a lease for the Manvel location in October 2023. The 15,000 square-foot space opened in 2025 and features lab space for digital technology, biotechnology, allied health programs. It also contains a virtual reality arena, open collaboration space and state-of-the-art classrooms.

Now that the facility has reached a break-even point, administrators are looking for new opportunities. The college intends to expand course offerings, increase training opportunities, launch more technical programs, and implement more instructional, workforce and community programming.

Alvin College West is located at 11800 Magnolia Parkway in Manvel. For more information, call 281-756-3531.
