ACC Foundation Establishes Ed Thompson Endowment
In recognition of State Rep. Ed Thompson's exemplary service to the legislature and commitment to higher education in the region, the Alvin Community College Foundation has established the Ed Thompson Endowment.
The Ed Thompson Endowment will provide scholarships for ACC students wishing to become educators by pursuing a degree or certification in education. The announcement of this Endowment was made during ACC's Commencement ceremony on May 10, where Thompson served as the Commencement speaker.
“This is truly an honor,” Thompson said. “Working hand in hand with constituents in my community was by far the most rewarding part of my legislative service. Our community values education and this endowment reflects that. While it is an honor for this scholarship program to carry my name, it is an even greater honor to see our collective hard work produce the next generation of educators.”
Thompson, who has represented District 29 in the Texas House of Representatives since his election in 2012, has been an ardent supporter of higher education throughout his tenure, holding key roles such as Vice Chairman for multiple House committees. He will be stepping down from his position at the end of his term in 2025.
"Ed Thompson's steadfast commitment to supporting education in our state has been a valuable contribution, enhancing the lives of countless students," remarked Foundation Executive Director Wendy Del Bello. "The Ed Thompson Endowment will ensure that his legacy of dedication continues to benefit the future of our community. We are deeply grateful for his years of friendship, leadership, and unwavering support of education and ACC."
