ACC Regents Take Oath of Office

Four Alvin Community College regents took the oath of office during a board meeting on May 14.
Regents Breah Knape, ‘Bel Sanchez, Dr. Jim Crumm, and Mike Pyburn were sworn in prior to the ceremony for positions 1, 2, 3 and 6 respectively. All four ran unopposed for the May 4 general election.
Knape, Sanchez and Crumm will serve an unpaid, six-year term. Pyburn is serving the remaining two years for the Position 6 seat after regent Jake Starkey resigned in 2023.
After an executive session, the regents voted unanimously on the appointment of the board officers with Sanchez remaining as chair, Jody Droege as vice chair and Dr. Patty Hertenberger as secretary.
Also during the meeting, President Dr. Robert J. Exley delivered the annual State of the College address for the board.
During his presentation Dr. Exley provided information on the college’s fiscal status, trends in enrollment, new programs on the horizon for students and updates on funding levels impacted by recent legislation.
