ACC Wins Pathways Award
Alvin Community College was recognized for student performance at the recent Texas Talent Strong Career Pathways Institute.
The college received the Recognition of their Dedication to Educational Outcomes (RODEO) award for its increase in credential completion, university transfers and other key performance indicators.
The college was recognized for student achievement with a 21% increase in college level math completion in first year, 20% increase in completing writing in first year, 13% increase in students completing 15 semester credit hours in one year, 10% increase in students completing a credential in three years and an 8% increase in students transferring within three years.
The college joined the Texas Success Center ten years ago and the data represents the hard work of the staff to improve student outcomes, said Dr. Jessica Ranero-Ramirez, ACC Dean of College Access and Partnerships.
“ACC has worked hard since the fall of 2015 to create a campus culture guided by the pathways model,” Ranero-Ramirez said. “It is great to see how our work to shape the student experience that leads to completion has paid off.”
The Texas Success Center is a division of the Texas Association of Community Colleges. The program is designed to support the implementation of guided pathways. The Center organizes community colleges in one of four cadres to support the redesign of student experiences.
Based on the American Association of Community College (AACC) Pathways Model, Texas Pathways is an integrated, system-wide approach to student success based on intentionally designed and clearly structured educational experiences that guide each student effectively and efficiently from the selection of their high school endorsement to entry into higher education and attainment of high-quality credentials and careers.
