Regarding Changes to the State HUB Program
The State of Texas has announced major changes to its HUB program, affecting how small businesses qualify for state contracting opportunities. We want to reassure our business community:
Our commitment to creating opportunities for small businesses remains unchanged.
What This Means for Brazoria County Businesses
Texas has restructured the HUB program into the new Veteran Heroes United in Business (VetHUB) program. Under the updated rules:
-
Only service-disabled veteran–owned businesses now qualify.
-
HUB certifications based solely on gender, race, or ethnicity have been revoked immediately.
-
These businesses have been removed from the HUB vendor directory.
-
Existing state contracts will continue, but new HUB opportunities will now be limited to qualifying veteran-owned firms.
Although the HUB program has changed, opportunities for small businesses still exist through various procurement channels, and our chamber will continue to help local entrepreneurs stay informed and connected.
We will continue to:
-
Provide timely updates
-
Share guidance on available resources
-
Connect businesses with procurement partners and agency representatives
We will continue working closely with our long-time state and federal partners, and we remain committed to helping our small businesses build relationships and access opportunities through these agencies.
