Alvin College Hosts 5th Annual Walking for Wellness

Alvin College Hosts 5th Annual Walking for Wellness
While students enroll in college to pursue an education or to get started with their career, Alvin College is hosting an event to ensure students are aware of the mental and physical wellness resources available to them.
The college is hosting the 5th Annual Walking for Wellness event at the campus courtyard on Wednesday, March 25. The theme for this year’s event is communication, organizers said.
“The purpose of the walk is to share resources with the college campus and community members,” Psychology instructor Jennifer Shimek said. “We are promoting exercise and mental health resources.”
For the first time this year’s Walking for Wellness is open to the community. The event was started in 2022 with the Active Minds student group and has grown since then.
Walking for Wellness is also part of the Pathway to Positivity initiative on campus.
College staff members, local organizations and student groups will be on hand to share information about the many wellness options available on campus and in the community.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the courtyard. There will be free giveaways, games and food.
