DESCRIPTION:Dear Houston Area Colleagues:\n\n \n\nThis is an invitation for the Department of Homeland Security's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL) virtual engagement with community leaders and stakeholders in the Houston area. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday\, August 4\, 2022\, from 2:00 3:30PM CDT. This is an open invite so please forward to other community members who you think may be interested.\n\n \n\nGiven that I am taking over Houston engagement for CRCL\, I would like to introduce myself and hear directly from you about your issues/concerns regarding DHS policies and programs\, including on topics such as domestic violent extremism (including white supremacist violent extremism)\, racial profiling and discrimination\, immigration and border related issues\, travel screening\, and anything else you would like to raise. I also welcome your advice on how to make such engagements more effective and ways to encourage more community participation. We are only inviting community stakeholders to this meeting to encourage free and frank discussion\, in preparation for future interagency roundtables with DHS and non-DHS local government and law enforcement participation.\n\n \n\nIf you wish to participate\, please RSVP by August 2\, 2022 to Nadia.Batcha@hq.dhs.gov.
